Thank you goes out to our art teacher, Mrs. Gajda, who has created our "Artist in the Spotlight" in our front foyer. She will be displaying different students' artwork throughout the year for all to see as they enter the building. This is a fantastic way to show the great artists we have here at E. Green.

Today's display has work from the following students: Divija Gurung(2), Arielle Gonzalez(2), Subha Aryal(K), and Joshua Grimm(Pre-K).

This year, NPS is asking all 4th, 8th, and 12th grade students and parents to participate in a School Climate Survey. This survey will look for your thoughts on how you think the district and individual schools are doing in regards to school climate. Today is the last day the survey is open. A reminder was sent this morning with a link to the survey.

We’re thrilled to welcome Connecticut children’s author Debbi Michiko Florence as part of Lucy Robbins Welles Library’s annual Sliva Author Event!

Debbi is the author of many beloved books, including the Jasmine Toguchi series, Sweet and Sour, and Keep It Together, Keiko Carter. Students will get to hear her share about her writing process, inspiration, and the magic of storytelling.

Each morning, we offer breakfast to our students. If a student would like breakfast, they are able to walk to the cafe and pick up a grab-n-go breakfast bag. Breakfast is $2 in most cases. If you do not want your child to get breakfast because they are eating at home, please send a note to your child's teacher.

Universal free lunch is no longer available to all students. Families are encouraged to complete an application to determine eligibility for Free and/or Reduced Lunch. Applications can be completed on-line here. Otherwise, the cost for school lunch is $3.25 at the elementary level. Parents/Guardians may apply funds to your child’s account either online or by sending a check/cash. Checks should be made out to Newington School Cafeterias. 

We have run into a small issue at dismissal. If you are picking up a student and are in the drive up line, please do not get out of your car to get your child. This holds up the line. We try to load 3-5 cars at a time. Once they are loaded, they drive off and the line can move up. Exiting your car to yell to your child slows the process down for everyone. Thanks for your help with this.

Reminder: Our goal is to get outside each day for recess. As long as it is not too wet or cold, we will be going our each day. Please make sure your child dresses appropriately for the weather. Coats are needed when it starts to get colder. Thanks.

Once again, we will have a Lost and Found rack in the cafeteria and can be accessed by all students during their lunch wave. Please remind your child to check the rack if they come home without an item of clothing. If you have any questions, please email bfigueiredo@npsct.org.

All classrooms are peanut/tree nut free. A snack containing peanut/tree nut may not be eaten in the classroom. At lunch, the cafeteria has designated tables for students with peanut/tree nut allergies. Parents of children with these allergies may opt to have your child sit at this table/s. Birthdays may be acknowledged with non-food items such as stickers, pencils, or other non-food items. Food is not accepted for birthday celebrations.
